Icona del jazz moderno, diventata famosa per la sua collaborazione con i Communards a metà degli anni ’80 e famigerata per una versione poi censurata del classico “Me and Mrs Jones”, Sarah Jane Morris ha sempre attratto l’attenzione su di sé sia per il suo impegno civile che per la sua voce dalle radici soul e forte come un’onda sismica. I suoi più grandi successi, oltre che in Gran Bretagna, li ha ottenuti in Giappone, Germania, Grecia e Italia, dove è stata premiata con la chiave della città di Verona, onorata con un Grammy europeo, e dove ha vinto il festival internazionale della canzone di Sanremo.
Sarah Jane Morris dividerà la scena con Gianni Vancini, sassofonista italiano dalle medesime caratteristiche contemporanee jazz/pop che, con i suoi progetti, ha raggiunto i vertici delle classifiche Usa e nord europee. E’ da molti considerato “l’ambasciatore italiano del jazz contemporaneo” e tra i numerosi riconoscimenti, e’ l’unico artista italiano ad aver partecipato alla prestigiosa crociera “Dave Koz & Friends At Sea”, alla quale ogni anno vengono invitati i maggiori esponenti internazionali del jazz moderno.
La partecipazione a ValdobbiadeneJazz 2019 preannuncia la collaborazione tra i due artisti che si realizzerà con l’uscita del nuovo progetto discografico di Vancini prevista per l’inizio del nuovo anno.
Ad accompagnarli: Tommaso Graziani (figlio di Ivan Graziani) alla batteria, Marco Dirani (Annalisa, Tricarico, Tozzi) al basso, Daniel Bestonzo alla tastiera, collaboratore di Eros Ramazzati e Ivan Geronazzo (Pravo, Red Canzian, Michelin) alla chitarra.

A modern jazz superstar: she became famous for her collaboration with the Communards in the mid-80s and infamous for a later censored version of the classic “Me and Mrs Jones”, Sarah Jane Morris has always attracted attention to herself both for her civil commitment and her “soul roots” voice, strong as a seismic wave. Her greatest successes are iconic both in Great Britain, but also in Japan, Germany, Greece and Italy, where she was awarded with the Verona’s city key, honoured with an European Grammy, and she won the famous Sanremo Festival together with Riccardo Cocciante
Sarah Jane Morris will share the stage with the Italian saxophonist Gianni Vancini, he joins with Sarah the same contemporary jazz/pop characteristics. His projects reached the top of the US and Northern European charts and he is considered by many “the Italian ambassador of contemporary jazz”. Among the numerous awards, Gianni is the only Italian artist invited at the prestigious cruise “Dave Koz & Friends At Sea” together with all the main contemporary jazz artists of the world.
Their presence at ValdobbiadeneJazz 2019 heralds the collaboration between the two artists that will see the light with the release of the new Vancini’s recording project scheduled for the beginning of the new year.
